Description
This is a hybrid cross between Nepenthes khasiana and Nepenthes (ventricosa x maxima). This hybrid is an excellent beginner species for anyone interested in pitcher plants, as they do well in medium to bright light, high humidity, and grow large and stunning pitchers as the plant matures.
The three most important aspects of carnivorous plant care are light, soil, and water. This pitcher plant does extremely well in bright, sunny windowsills, and even better in shaded outdoor spots in the summer. Nepenthes pitcher plants are epiphytes in nature, meaning they attach themselves to trees. Since they are rainforest species, keeping the roots damp but not waterlogged yet allowing airflow is critical. We keep ours in a 50-50 ratio of long fiber sphagnum moss and perlite.
Carnivorous plant substrate should be kept damp at all times and should only be watered with reverse osmosis, distilled, or rainwater. Water that is too high in dissolved solids will eventually kill them as salts build up in the soil and burn the roots.
